There are a number of reasons to renovate your home. For example, you might remodel your kitchen to be more functional, or renovate your bathrooms to better reflect your personal style.
But whatever your reason for renovating, you probably hope that it will boost your home price when it comes time to sell.
Unfortunately, while almost anything you do to improve your home will increase the value, and allow you to list your home for more money, many home improvement projects don’t actually produce a positive ROI. So just keep that in mind when spending money on any home improvements.
With that in mind, here’s a recent article from realtor.com which outlines the home renovation projects that will boost your home’s price the most, including:
Landscaping. When it comes to selling a home, curb appeal is extremely important, so it makes sense that improving curb appeal will give a boost to your listing price. According to realtor.com’s data, homes with the term “new landscape” were listed for 8.1 percent higher than similar homes without such renovations, which translates to a whopping $34,749 higher listing price, based upon median home prices.
Kitchen. For many people, the kitchen is the heart of the home, and renovating yours can give you a nice bump up to the listing price. The term “renovated kitchen” was associated with a 7 percent listing price increase —or $29,841 for a median-priced property.
Bathroom. Bathrooms can also be a place where renovations pay off. Realtor.com’s data found that the terms “remodeled bathroom” and “new bath” offered a 3 percent boost to a home’s listing price.
